Current Opportunities
Senior Interior Designer
Shapiro & Company Architects is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead multifamily interior projects that are design-driven, market-aware, and experience-focused. We are looking for a designer with strong creative instincts, refined taste, and the ability to translate vision into spaces that feel memorable, intentional, and distinctly aligned with each development’s identity.
This role is focused exclusively on multifamily interiors — including luxury, market-rate, mixed-use, and affordable housing communities — and offers the opportunity to shape projects from early concept through installation. From amenity spaces and leasing environments to unit interiors and finish strategies, you will help define how residents experience a community and how a project positions itself within the market.
You will work closely with leadership, developers, architects, consultants, and vendors while helping guide the overall design direction of the studio’s multifamily work. This is an opportunity for a designer who wants meaningful creative influence, high-level collaboration, and the ability to produce work that is both visually compelling and strategically impactful.
We are looking for someone who is equally conceptual and technical — a designer who can lead with ideas, execute with precision, and elevate the quality of every project they touch.
Responsibilities
Design Leadership & Project Execution
-
Lead multifamily interior design efforts through all phases of design and documentation
-
Develop design concepts, finish palettes, material selections, amenity space designs, and unit interior packages

Oversee interior detailing, millwork design, finish coordination, and technical execution
-
Support FF&E selection, specification, procurement, and installation processes
-
Anticipate design challenges proactively and develop thoughtful, buildable solutions
-
Maintain awareness of multifamily market trends, resident expectations, durability standards, ADA/Fair Housing requirements, and operational considerations
-
Review and check code compliance applicable to each project and ensure we are meeting building, zoning, and accessibility requirements in conjunction with the architecture and interiors teams
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
-
Build strong relationships with clients through responsiveness, professionalism, and design excellence
-
Translate client goals, target demographics, and market positioning into cohesive and compelling design solutions
